Tips From the Pros

Rough shot

It's difficult to get contol of the ball, hitting it out of the rough, with a pitch shot. To gain control, favor your weight to the left side, play ball in back of stance, and make sure that the club is slighty open from the ball.

Chip Shot

Keep weight on the forward foot. A common mistake is leaning on the back foot, which causes the ball to go up in the air. To fix this you want a one-lever motion, meaning you want to keep your leading arm (left arm) and the shaft of the club in relationship with one another, you also want to favor your front foot with more of an open stance.

Driver vs. Iron

The main thing is to get weight distribution correct.

With an Iron, as you stand up next to the golf ball with your iron you want your weight to be 50/50 front to back, and side to side, so that you can make more of a down swing on the golf ball.

With a driver you want the majority if your weight or at least 60% of your weight onto your right foot. This allows you to turn behind the ball and hit the ball in an upswing.
